On June 5, 2014, HealthTrust announced it had acquired Cardiac Data Solutions (CDS), adding clinical data analytics, benchmarking and related consulting services to HealthTrust’s offerings. Founded in 1999, Cardiac Data Solutions focused on the cardiovascular market and expanded to the orthopedic and spine markets in 2008. HealthTrust’s CEO Ed Jones noted members were requesting help in the area of clinical data analysis and benchmarking as they addressed all dimensions of cost management. The acquisition marked a great milestone for HealthTrust and has helped enhance the organization’s total cost management capabilities.
On launch day, CDS Founder April Simon said, “Strategically, with our clinical analytics and HealthTrust’s purchase data, I am confident we will be able to build a robust database that answers many key questions of hospital operators. My team and I are excited about the new opportunities ahead of us as part of the HealthTrust team.”
HealthTrust has rebranded the services previously provided by CDS to reflect its more comprehensive offerings in medical device custom sourcing and consulting services currently marketed under SourceTrust.
