NASHVILLE, Tenn., May 28, 2025 – HealthTrust Performance Group, a leading healthcare performance improvement organization, hosted its 2025 Executive Advisory Summit on April 23-25 in Amelia Island, Florida—bringing together senior executives from leading health systems to explore pressing challenges in healthcare.
Part of HealthTrust’s Collaborative Summit Series, the event focused on three key themes: the policy landscape under the new administration, real-world applications of artificial intelligence (“AI”) in care delivery, and strategies for building a resilient healthcare workforce. The summit consisted of keynote sessions, expert panels and breakout discussions with healthcare leaders designed to foster actionable insights and peer-to-peer collaboration.
“Our Executive Advisory Summit is built around the challenges our members are actively working to solve—from navigating regulatory uncertainty and AI integration to persistent labor shortages and workforce burnout,” said Ed Jones, President and CEO of HealthTrust. “By bringing together leaders from across the healthcare ecosystem, we’re creating space for forward-thinking conversations to foster real, sustainable change.”
The agenda featured sessions exploring critical and timely themes, sparking meaningful dialogue. Key highlights include:
- Kara Townsend, Director of Policy and Federal Affairs at HCA Healthcare, moderated the opening session, “The New Administration and Healthcare: Policy, Cuts and Tariffs.” She was joined by Jocelyn Bradshaw, COO of HealthTrust GPO; Charlene MacDonald, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs at the Federation of American Hospitals; and Kelly Ann Shaw, Partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and former Deputy Assistant to the President for International Economic Affairs. Together, they explored the policy implications of federal leadership changes, trade policy, and evolving healthcare regulations.
- Barry Chaiken, M.D., MPH, President of DocsNetwork Ltd., presented on the “Transformative Potential of AI in Healthcare,” exploring how emerging technologies can drive efficiency, reduce administrative burden and enhance clinical decision-making. A follow-up panel led by HealthTrust SVP David Osborn featured leaders from Athelas/Commure, HCA Healthcare and Mercy Health who examined real-world applications of AI across operations and care delivery.
- In “Building a Resilient Healthcare Workforce of the Future,” Ramy Hanna, Group CEO, National Group at HealthTrust, led a conversation with senior executives from HCA, Advocate Health and HealthTrust Workforce Solutions about labor shortages, burnout and talent development.
- The summit concluded with a keynote from New York Times bestselling author Jon Acuff, who inspired attendees with “Do Over: Investing in the 4 Things Every Great Business Needs to Navigate Change,” offering practical strategies to lead with clarity and adaptability.
