BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – April 18, 2013 – HealthTrust, a Parallon® affiliate, today announced the appointment of Michael L. Berryhill to the position of executive vice president and chief operating officer. Berryhill, a 25-year healthcare industry veteran, served most recently as senior vice president of strategic sourcing for MedAssets, Inc. He will report directly to Ed Jones, HealthTrust’s president and CEO.
In making the announcement, Jones stated, “Michael has extensive sourcing, supply chain and operations experience that I believe will significantly aid in HealthTrust’s ongoing effort to strengthen provider cost management. Our clients rely on HealthTrust to provide a contract portfolio that sets the industry standard for product quality, coverage and price. Michael’s deep knowledge of the industry and his keen leadership skills make him an excellent addition to our team, and I look forward to Michael’s contributions to the overall future success of both HealthTrust and Parallon.”
Prior to his association with MedAssets, Berryhill served in several executive capacities with The Broadlane Group, Inc. including: director, laboratory contracting services; vice president, contracting services; senior vice president, supply chain services; and executive vice president of supply chain solutions. In his most recent position within the merged MedAssets and Broadlane enterprise, Berryhill was a member of the corporate leadership team with responsibility for the company’s group purchasing organization. He also played an integral role in the sale of The Broadlane Group to MedAssets in 2010.

Prior to his association with Broadlane, Berryhill held positions with Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. and ICN Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He has served on the board of what is now the Healthcare Supply Chain Association (HSCA), formerly the Healthcare Industry Group Purchasing Association (HIGPA), and he was a member of the Federation of American Hospitals’ Exposition
Advisory Board. Berryhill holds a Bachelor of Science degree in education/biology from the State University of New York, College at Cortland.
