Health System Leaders Attend HealthTrust Executive Advisory Summit to Address Pressing Industry Challenges

NASHVILLE, Tenn., June 14, 2023HealthTrust Performance GroupSM, a leading healthcare performance improvement company, hosted an Executive Advisory Summit from May 10-12 in Deer Valley, Utah to address some of today’s top challenges in healthcare.

The Summit convened C-suite leaders from HealthTrust and its health system members nationwide to hear from expert speakers and contribute to small group workshops on pressing issues facing executives in healthcare currently. The event also provided opportunities for information exchange and networking.

Speakers at the Summit included:

  • Larry Van Horn, Ph.D, Executive Director for Health Affairs at Vanderbilt University, spoke on the changing consumer role in U.S. healthcare. Van Horn currently focuses his current academic research on the shift to consumer purchase of healthcare and the impact it will have on new delivery models.
  • Jim Davidson, a resiliency expert and high-altitude expedition leader, spoke on resiliency by distilling compelling stories from his experience executing successful high-altitude rescue missions and offering lessons on how to overcome change, challenge and uncertainty.

Attendees also had the opportunity to hear from experts and discuss an array of solutions in breakout sessions on the most urgent challenges facing hospitals today, including:

  • Jocelyn Bradshaw, SVP of Strategic Sourcing at HealthTrust, led the breakout session, The E in ESG, which discussed lessons learned from environmental transformations of health systems as policymakers place an increased emphasis on executing ESG strategies.
  • John Young, M.D., Chief Medical Officer at HealthTrust, and Brendan Courtney, President and CEO at HealthTrust Workforce Solutions, led the Workforce Strategy session where they discussed how healthcare leaders can stabilize the workforce staffing shortage crisis through recruitment, retention, alternative practice models, and technology approaches.
  • Ramy Hanna, CEO of HCA Continental/Mercy Roi, moderated a panel on the increasing complexities preventing execution in healthcare organizations and approaches to effectively overcome them. Panelists included:
    • Ed Jones, President and CEO, HealthTrust
    • Betty Jo Rocchio, DNP, MS, RN, CRNA, CENP, EBP-C, SVP and System Chief Nursing Officer, Mercy Health
    • Chas Roades, CEO and Founder, Gist Healthcare
