Brentwood, TN-July 11, 2012-Ed Jones, former HealthTrust COO, will succeed retiring HealthTrust founder Jim Fitzgerald as the organization’s new president and CEO, effective immediately. Jones was selected as part of a nationwide search to fill the role when Fitzgerald retired on May 31, 2012. Jones was named interim president and CEO until the search was complete.
With more than 25 years of health-care experience, Jones will manage the overall financial and operational functions of this $20 billion global group purchasing organization, which includes operations in Europe as well as Shanghai, China. Previously, he held the position of COO which included direct responsibility for all strategic sourcing, clinical operations, custom contracting, supplier diversity, global sourcing and regional operations. Jones will also serve as president of Parallon Supply Chain Solutions, where he is responsible for the service line’s outsourced and consulting business.
Jones is a founding board member of the Health Sector Supply Chain Research Consortium and a member of the Federation of America Hospitals. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.
