BRENTWOOD, Tennessee—May 15, 2015—HealthTrust℠, a Parallon® affiliate, was selected for the sixth time as a recipient of a “Champion for Change” award from Practice Greenhealth, a national membership organization for healthcare facilities committed to environmentally responsible operations. The award is one of the organization’s Environmental Excellence Awards given annually to honor outstanding environmental achievements in the healthcare sector.
Kathy Demaray, vice president of Supply Chain Board and GPO Operations, accepted the 2015 award on behalf of HealthTrust at the annual CleanMed Conference & Exhibition, held recently in Portland, Oregon. Demaray was also part of a GPO panel providing updates on the workgroup’s environmentally preferable purchasing (EPP) initiatives.
Demaray says, “HealthTrust has enhanced its sourcing processes to include focused attention on EPP in various product categories across our portfolio. We are proud to be an active member of Practice Greenhealth and its GPO workgroup dedicated to creating appropriate sustainability-related contracting questions for consistency among industry suppliers during the RFP process.”
The Champion for Change Award is reserved for organizational partners supplying healthcare products and services that are considerate of the earth and its resources. The winners of this award have achieved success in greening their own organization and have also assisted others who are committed to improving their environmental performance. Research has demonstrated that such efforts not only result in significant savings, but also will not increase operating costs.
