NASHVILLE, Tennessee—March 21, 2017—HealthTrust Workforce Solutions® is proud to announce that it has joined the not-for-profit DAISY Foundation as a participating organization. The DAISY Foundation is an international organization that recognizes extraordinary nurses and celebrates the passion and compassion they demonstrate in healthcare settings every day.
In advancing the charter of the Foundation, Workforce Solutions is accepting nominations for nurses who have demonstrated a meaningful impact on a patient or family. HealthTrust will recognize nurses regularly by presenting DAISY Foundation Awards. Each honoree will be recognized at a ceremony at her/his facility and will receive a certificate, a DAISY lapel pin and a hand-carved stone sculpture entitled, Healer’s Touch.

An acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System, the DAISY Foundation was formed in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 from complications of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). During Barnes’ eight-week hospitalization, his family experienced the best in nursing care and compassion provided not only to the patient, but to everyone in his family.
