HealthTrust has been honored with its third “Champion for Change” Award from Practice Greenhealth, a national membership organization for health-care facilities committed to environmentally responsible operations. The award is one of the organization’s Environmental Excellence Awards given each year to honor outstanding environmental achievements in the health-care sector. J. Michael Jones, FACHE, director of Clinical Education and Sustainability, accepted the 2012 award on behalf of HealthTrust at the annual CleanMed event held in Denver April 30 – May 3.

Practice Greenhealth is a national membership organization for health-care facilities committed to environmentally responsible operations. HealthTrust received the award for outstanding contributions to environmentally responsible health care. The Champion for Change award recognizes businesses and organizations that demonstrate successful accomplishments in ‘greening’ their own organization and have assisted their associated health-care facility clients/members/customers in improving their environmental performance.

“HealthTrust recognizes the importance of providing its members with vendor solutions for environmentally preferred purchasing (EPP) products and services and takes its responsibility seriously,” says Jones. “We’re proud to be contracting for products and services that are better for both the environment and public health as our member facilities increasingly ask for eco-friendly, non-toxic options.”

The Champion for Change Award is reserved for organizational partners supplying health-care products and services that are considerate of the earth and its resources. The winners of this award have achieved success in greening their own organization and have also assisted others who are committed to improving their environmental performance. HealthTrust has been a member of Practice Greenhealth since 2008 and has won this award three times.
